Shamsa Maqsood

is a 35 year old female and has three school going children. With the responsibilities at home and opportunity cost attached, she found it very difficult to attend some training or pursue employment outside the community. During Project team’s mobilization visits, Shamsa was introduced to the opportunity of beautician training within the community which she appreciated very much. She decided to attend the training without neglecting/compromising her responsibilities at home. She enrolled herself in the first batch and attended the beautician training. Her punctuality, regular attendance and interest in the learning were commendable.

In the makeup competition between the groups on closing day, Shamsa got the first position for doing good bridal makeup. As she completed her training course, she got an offer from a local organization for employment as beautician resource person. She is now teaching this skill to 20 more females in Rimsha Colony. Apart from this, she deals her clients at home as well and earns money which is used for education of her children and other household needs. She feels much happy and satisfied that she is using her learning to benefit herself, her family as well as the girls who are her trainees. She is highly thankful to YDA and HIVE for such opportunity.
