Theme of Global Handwashing Day 2022 “Unite for Universal Hand Hygiene”
Youth Development Association organized Handwashing Day event to a particular theme “Unite for Universal Hand Hygiene” on October 15, 2022 for the students of St. Mary’s Primary Education Center and community members of Rimsha Colony, H-9/2, Islamabad. A total no of 68 people participated in this event out of which 35 were children, 15 female and 18 males. The theme focuses on the links between handwashing and food, including food hygiene and nutrition. Following steps were shared with the community and children of Rimsha Colony to re-enforce the theme;
- Wash your hands with soap at critical times, especially before eating, cooking, or feeding others.
- Model good handwashing behavior, and remind or help others to always wash their hands with soap before eating.
- Make handwashing with soap as a part of family meals.
When all the students and community members washed the hands, the event ended up by the distribution of soaps. 100 soaps were distributed among the students of St. Mary’s Primary Education Center and other children of the community. The students and community were very happy to attend the event and said that we will practice this in their daily life.
